the not for sale holiday party
December 2014
A party where to GIVE and RECEIVE what we all do & what we all make.
It’s a celebration. It’s a tiny insurrection. It’s a fundraiser for our own humanity.
GIVE IT UP.
Everyone needs a dollar to get by in this city - there’s no denying that. But this is a pause, just for a moment - to thumb our noses at the currency dictating our value and celebrate keeping the price tag off of what is priceless- the original spirit of the holidays.
Come celebrate together by bringing it!
You make wearables, gorgeous liqueurs, soaps, illustrations, beeswax candles, cards? Bring them.
You read palms? Set up a table. You make cookies that taste like unbridled joy? Bake two dozen.
Give your prints, your drawings, your bitters, your beers.
Don't know what to bring? It doesn't have to be something you make if that's tripping you up- bring a
bottle of your favorite wine or the most amazing olives.
Or just give your time and help with getting the word out, set-up and cleanup, running the photo booth.
The only price of admission is bringing something you can give. Something you feel proud giving.
We challenge you not to bring the crappy leftovers. Bring the gorgeous centerpiece.
Everyone who comes will leave with more than what they brought - goods and true exchanges from
everyone who participates.
Giant banquet table padded with items from local businesses, including Irving Farm, Fleischer's Butcher, Toys in Babeland, Momo dressing, Brooklyn Brine...
Music by DJ Area D, shadow puppet installation by Andrew Benincasa.
Co-produced by ICD, Deb Klein & Natasha Corbie.
